Abstract:
The objective of the research is to improve the technology for adapting and further growing planting material of European cranberry (Vaccinium oxycoccos L.) to ex vitro conditions. The work was conducted at the Russian State Agrarian University – Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy in 2024-2025. The objects of the study are V. oxycoccos plants of the Krasa Severa and Fomich cultivars obtained by clonal micropropagation. Rooted in vitro microclones of V. oxycoccos were planted in mini-greenhouses for adaptation. Substrate selection and preparation, plant preparation, and cultivation were carried out according to generally accepted methods. Rooting substrates used included high-moor peat (pH = 2.8–3.1), as well as mixtures of peat + river sand (3 : 1), peat + vermiculite (3 : 1), peat + agroperlite (3 : 1), and peat + natural volcanic zeolite (3 : 1). V. oxycoccos plants were transplanted into 1- and 2-liter containers in the first ten days of June and further grown indoors. Biometric measurements were taken at the end of each ten-day period for three months, and their survival rate to non-sterile ex vitro conditions was determined. The best adaptation of regenerated V. oxycoccos plants to non-sterile conditions by the 30th day was achieved on a substrate of a 3 : 1 mixture of peat and zeolite, and a 3 : 1 mixture of peat and agroperlite. The survival rate of V. oxycoccos was 97–99 %. The Fomich cultivar proved somewhat more resilient to the stress of transplanting plants into larger pots. Container size was found to have no significant effect on the quality of the planting material of the Russian V. oxycoccos cultivars studied.
