The purpose of the publication was to show the process of organizing the fight against foot and mouth disease (FMD) in one of livestock farms of Management of military construction units, stationed on secret construction of facilities of the USSR Medium Machine Building Ministry. The study cov-ered the period from 1964 to 1965 and was based on the documents and ma-terials of the Zheleznogorsk city archive, including the decisions of the Exec-utive Committee of the city Council of Zheleznogorsk (Krasnoyarsk-26), the discussion of relevant issues at the meetings of the Executive Committee of the city Council the questions connected with the condition of veterinary sanitary inspection at state agricultural enterprises and in personal subsid-iary farms; the plans of measures on quarantine establishment; references of veterinary sanitary inspection and other documents. In the study the ac-tions directed on prevention of distribution of FMD and the establishment of quarantine on pig farms both in the city, and in settlements in 1964 were analyzed and also the measures taken for prevention of danger of repeated drift of FMD on the territory of the city and nearby settlements in 1965 were mentioned. The conclusion was made that the outbreak of dangerous infec-tious disease had been the result of unfavorable situation caused by the epi-zootic caused by the introduction of A22 virus from Iran to the USSR, which sharply worsened epizootic situation in the country as a whole, as well as the impact of negligent and unprofessional attitude to keeping animals, non-compliance with veterinary norms and requirements of veterinary sanitary inspection in some pig farms, weak control from the chief veterinary health officer of the city on farm animals keeping.
