In the study the development of alcohol and distillery industry of Kras-noyarsk Region in 1956-1965 is considered. The purpose was the definition of the main stages of development of alcoholic industry of Krasnoyarsk Re-gion during considered period; the assessment of high-quality and quantita-tive changes in the condition of industry for the beginning and the end of re-forming period. The principles of historicism, scientific objectivity, systemacity and critical attitude to sources were the basis of the research. For Krasnoyarsk Region in the 1950-s sharp disproportion in the develop-ment between branches of heavy and light industry was characteristic. Al-cohol and distillery industry existing at that time could not satisfy complete-ly the requirement of the population that led to the growth of consumption of substitute alcohol. On December, 15, 1958 the Resolution of the Central Committee of CPSU and the Council of Ministers of the USSR No. 1365 "About strengthening of fight against alcoholism and establishing order in trade in strong alcoholic drinks" was accepted. This resolution limited trade in strong alcoholic beverages and toughened punishment for the production and sale of substitute alcoholic products, i.e. moonshine. During the reform of 1957 the existing control system was completely reorganized. The reform allowed carrying out modernization of all branches that led to the increase in the production of alcoholic products practically twice. The increase in the amount of factory alcohol not only reduced the consumption of substitutes, but also promoted the stability of a city way of life in Krasnoyarsk economic region.
